From paper to PDF in 4 steps
1. Photograph the page
Open “Scan” in the dashboard and point the camera at the sheet. No need to line it up perfectly — just take the shot.
2. It crops, flattens, and enhances
Detects the page edges, corrects the tilt, removes the shadow, and evens out the lighting so the background is white and the text is legible.
3. Add and reorder pages
The whole file in one go: shoot page after page, delete the bad ones, and reorder them as you like.
4. Save — and it is yours
One PDF with all pages (or separate images if you prefer), uploaded to your firm's storage and filed under the case or client you choose.
Scanning happens on your device — not on our servers
Scanning happens on your device only. Capturing, cropping, and enhancing the page all run inside your browser, and no image is sent to Lexa's servers while that happens. Nothing is uploaded until you press Save — and at that point only the final file is uploaded, to your firm's own storage.
So a page you photograph and then discard never left the phone at all. And a page you do save is stored under your firm alone, isolated from every other firm by database-level security rules — the same treatment as the rest of your case documents.

You pick the case or client before saving, so the file lands where it belongs — not in a stray “images” folder.
OCR text extraction when you need it
From the Documents page you can extract the text of the saved file so it becomes searchable and summarizable. That is a separate, optional step that runs on the file after it is already saved in your firm.
Versions, tags, and folders
The file gets the same treatment as any Lexa document: version history, tags, and moving between folders.
No extra app
It runs from the mobile browser and from the Lexa app. No second scanner app to install, no second subscription to pay.

FAQ
Is the scanner really free?
Yes. It is available on every plan including the free tier, with no page cap and no upgrade required.
Are my photos uploaded to Lexa while I scan?
No. Capture, crop, and enhancement all happen inside the browser on your device. No image leaves the device before you press Save, and at that point only the final file is uploaded, to your firm's own storage.
Do I need to install an app?
No. It runs directly in the mobile browser, and also inside the Lexa app if you have it installed.
Can I scan a whole file at once?
Yes. Shoot page after page in the same session, reorder them, delete the ones you do not want, and save them as a single PDF.
Do I get a PDF or images?
The default is one PDF containing all pages. If you need separate images — for a receipt or an ID, say — you can choose JPEG image output instead.
Does it read Arabic and handwriting?
The scanner itself improves the image of the page regardless of language or script. OCR text extraction is a separate step that runs on the saved document and gives you text to review — results depend on how clear the original is, and handwriting is harder than print.
Where is the file stored?
In your firm's storage inside Lexa, under the case or client you chose, isolated from every other firm by security rules.
Can I use it for things other than case papers?
Of course — IDs, powers of attorney, receipts, contracts, any sheet of paper you need saved clean and readable inside the firm's records.
